I’m out here trying to promote positivity on a global scale.
First thing, and it’s really one of my favorite things, is the protection part. Who everybody is blocking and where the pressure is coming from. Because if we can’t get the ball off, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing out here.
‘XXL,’ they call me a freshman, but I’m a pro. So, this a platform to let people know I’m out here.
It’s the most prestigious dog show in the country. We love dogs, and we’re having a blast out here.
You can’t speak for the people unless you’re able to walk amongst the people. And how many of these rappers out here actually hang out with regular people?
I am the best out here.
Walk away from anyone who is unduly focused on vacation and compensation. It’s a sign of potential trouble. No matter how talented you are, if you don’t really want to work at TOMS, you’ll never work out here.
To be honest, the first thing that hits you when you step off the plane in L.A. is just how eager people are to help you out here – or, at least, that’s what I’ve found.
When Governor Romney was out here, I told him, I said, ‘we are following the formula of streamlining regulations, being job creating friendly, balancing budgets, cutting taxes, and, you know, using common sense. And if you get to be president, we are going to do more of that.’
I think if I could pick one moment it would be when I was going to college in the South and it wasn’t what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to be out here in LA and acting.
As much as we’re out here performing, I think it’s necessary that we have our times of privacy as well when things aren’t going our way.
Out here in California, in the Pacific Ocean, the sharks have a bad attitude.
I’m kind of a builder of institutions. I think I’ve got some ability to look at what’s out here, look at a playing field, and identify gaps and niches.
Nobody is thinking they’re going to come out here and put a team here and become a multimillionaire. I don’t know anybody that comes into the NFL like that.
I also welcomed the Kartarpur corridor. I think it is a good step but I can’t go to Pakistan when terrorist acts are being carried out here.
To be honest I quit taking training and fighting so seriously and went back to living my life and having fun. I try to teach that to all the guys who come out here to train and live with me.
I wanted to feel like an artist for once in my life. I wanted to use other producers for respect, to let them know that I listen to other people’s music and that I’m just not out here on my own page.
I love women. I love ’em to death, but sometimes you have to be careful. Sometimes these women out here play games, too.
L.A. hip-hop is so different; it’s so diverse. Out here, it’s, like, funk-inspired; it’s, like, ’70s-skating-rink-inspired at times. It’s Zapp-and-Roger-inspired; it’s house-party-era-inspired.
I never took my SAT’s. I never applied to college. I moved right out here and jumped into the thick of things. Whether that was the smart move or not, I’m sitting here talking to you now, so it paid off.
When I go across the state, people are really asking the question, ‘Who is up there fighting for us? Who is fighting for us at the state capital for the little guy out here, for the working Georgian, for the Georgian family?’
When the Olympics comes around, it seems like every country is against each other, but we’re all buddies out here. It’s about giving feedback to fellow riders and letting the riders feed off each other.
I’ve been very fortunate with injuries: I’ve had the odd broken bone in my back; when I was starting out here in England, I cracked a few ribs, and I’ve broken a bone in my hand.
L.A. gets a bad rap, but that’s not the case. Everybody’s like a real family out here. I think a lot of that comes from UCB Theatre, Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh, Matt Besser, and Ian Roberts. They’re really funny, but they’re also upstanding people.
